I wasn't sure what benefit there could possibly be to homeschooling when we started. All I knew is that we couldn't send our daughter back to school. The first week of homeschooling brought such peace, and then the benefits started to be clear.
- If she's excelling in a subject... then we can move ahead, instead of her waiting for peers to catch up with her.
- If she's struggling with a subject... we can take more time on it.
- Peers don't determine how the day goes... there aren't other students with behavior problems who disrupt the learning process.
- Time is not wasted being in lines... so much of school is spent in transport from one place to the other. No need for bubbles in your mouths and hands behind your back at home.
- You KNOW your kids are OK... socially, emotionally, and physically.
- If they're having a bad day, you know why... when she would come home from school and be having a bad day, it would be hard for her to pinpoint why. I never knew why she was having a good day, or a bad day. With her home all day, I usually know why she is feeling the way she is.
- She loves learning... learning gets to be tailored in a way that makes her excited about learning new things.
- She gets to pick some of her assignments... when she picks her assignments, she's super happy to complete them.
- If we need a day off... we can take it! In fact, we took off almost the entire month of December due to us moving our home and business. Or if she's sick we can just take it easy for the day or take the day off.
- Teach your children how to be social... At school, the students are left to socialize themselves, not getting much input from adults. But at home, we, as parents are able to correct bad social behaviors and praise good social behaviors... what could be better socialization?
- Get to focus on her likes and talents... She gets to do crafts everyday, because she loves them, she's good at them, and they bring her joy.
This is just a short list. The benefits just keep on rolling in.
