The first week we homeschooled her I felt immediate peace where there hadn't been peace before. I was given increased patience. I was able to see the world around me as learning opportunities for my children. My mom even said she could clearly see that I truly loved being a mom. Homeschooling instantly changed our family dynamic in a positive way.
To be honest, Hannah had a hard time for the first 3 days Addi was at home all day. After that they have become best of friends and love to spend time together.
As the weeks went on, I began to realize the bigger picture that is public schooling, or even schooling in a massive classroom setting. I began to see problems beyond what Addi faced. I began to see and understand how public schools can be detrimental to many children.
I began to watch YouTube videos by Sir Ken Robinson and had my eyes opened to problems in education. I was inspired by his words and his push to change public education. I then realized that he has been pushing for education reform since at least 2006. And I realized that if someone as charismatic, funny, educated and genius as this man couldn't get public education to change... then no one could.
Take 20 minutes to watch this. It'll feel like no time at all once he gets going because everything he says is so eye-opening.
